A mobile court has fined 14 medicine shops and sealed off another for selling unapproved and expired drugs at Hazari Lane, a hub of around 400 medicine shops, in Chittagong city on Monday afternoon.
The drive was conducted from 1pm to 5pm led by executive magistrate Rakibul Hasan.
Rakibul told the Dhaka Tribune that actions were taken against the medicine shops for selling unapproved, expired foreign drugs and some food items as drugs.
And for this, 14 shops were fined with Tk1, 25,000 in total, and another shop was sealed off, he said.
In the drive, representatives of Drug Administration, Rab members along with officials of district administration took part along with Central Drug Testing Laboratory Director Mushfiqur Rahman.
