Police nab 111 from Chittagong hotels, slums

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) in a drive nabbed 111 people, including 49 women, on charge of drug peddling and “anti-social activities” from the port city yesterday.

DB Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Engineer Hasan Chowdhury told the Dhaka Tribune that the 16 CMP police stations conducted drives in residential hotels and the crime-prone spots from 2pm for two hours following on a tip-off and made the arrest.

“During the drive, we also found different kinds of drug from a number of the arrested,” said the ADC who is also spokesman of the CMP.

The ADC continued that such type of drive would be kept continual in the city to maintain law and order situation.

Cases were launched against the arrested with the police stations.
