The fugitive accused in an attempt to rape case, along with his father, allegedly kidnapped the plaintiff woman in the case at Bergongarampur village in Gurudaspur upazila of the district on Monday night.
An abduction case was lodged against eight people, including Shahidul Islam, who is the fugitive accused, and his father Bakkar Mondol, with Gurudaspur police station in this connection on early Tuesday.
Hafiza Begum, the abductee's mother, claimed Shahidul and his accomplices forced her daughter into a microbus when she went out to go to toilet around 1am on Monday.
Officer-in-Charge of Gurudaspur police station Ibrahim Hossain said police were trying to rescue the kidnapped woman.
The woman, 27, had been living with her mother and her only daughter Jesmin, 8, in the village after her husband took a second wife in Dhaka.
Shahidul, who has two children, had long been proposing her to develop an illicit relation with him. He also entered her room in the late hours of night two weeks ago and attempted to rape her.
Hearing her screams, Hafiza rushed to the room but Shahidul managed to flee.
Following the incident, the 27-year-old lodged an attempt to rape case against Shahidul, who has been on the run since then.
Bakkar, on the other hand, also filed a kidnap case against four people, including the woman, with a Natore court.
