The father of murdered jeweller, Rubel Sikdar, demanded the CID investigate and solve the mystery behind the killing of his son and arrest the killers.
Masud Sikdar made the call on Monday at a press conference in Barisal Reporters Unity. He demanded the transfer of the case to CID from Barisal Kotwali police station.
Rubel, 38, was the owner of Riya Guinea House in Marokhola-Natunbazar crossing.
Masud said the strangled body of his son was found in his neighbour's apartment on January 18. He lived in a building near the police post at Natunbazar area of the city.
Later, a case was lodged with Barisal Kotwali police station but police had failed to arrest any killer and neither did they even detained anyone on suspicion in the last eight months, Masud said.
Masud alleged that Sub-Inspector Saidur Rahman, investigating officer of the case, and Inspector Shakhawat Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station, demanded and have collected more than Tk35,000 as bribe at different occasions for solving the case but have not arrested anyone.
