ACC files case against former Fatullah OC

The Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday filed a case against former officer-in-charge Hasan Ali (now suspended) of Fatullah police station in Narayanganj for his alleged involvement in acquiring wealth worth Tk14 lakh illegally.

A regular meeting of the commission approved the move, and ACC Deputy Director Helal Uddin Sharif filed the case with Ramna police station, said ACC Public Relation Officer Pranab Kumer Bhattacharya.

Following such allegation, the ACC conducted a primary investigation into the matter and found it positive. Then the accused police official was served with a notice to submit his wealth statement on October 15 last year.

Later, the accused submitted his wealth statement on December 26.

An ACC official told the Dhaka Tribune that the OC in his wealth statement some of his wealth information which he bought in his wife's name.

The accused bought 121 decimal lands worth Tk352,000 in Mymensingh during 1997-2001, and made a postal savings worth Tk10 lakh in 2011 in his wife's name, which he concealed in his wealth statement, the case document reads.

Meanwhile, the ACC Deputy Director Shamsul Alam yesterday questioned Palli Daridro Bimochon Foundation (PDBF) Managing Director Mahbubur Rahman.

The PDBF MD was quizzed as the ACC found proofs of embezzlement of public money, corruption in appointing staffs, irregularities and sign of money laundering in “Solar Project” against the accused in its primary inquiry.
