Miscreants shot dead a private university student and injured another in a brothel beside Daulatdia Rail Station at Goalanda upazila of the district yesterday.
Deceased Md Ripon Mandal, 22, was a student of LLB final year course of Southeast University and son of Md Mohan Mandal of the upazila.
Daulatdia union parishad chairman Nurul Islam Mandal said in a statement that his nephew Ripon came to house from the university few days ago. Some unknown friends called him over phone when he was staying at brothel. Then he went out of the brothel around 3:30am and miscreants shot him.
Ripon died on the spot and his friend Farid received injury. Family members of Farid admitted him to Faridpur Medical College and Hospital.
Gualanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Khaleque said, police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
A case was filed with Goalanda police station in this connection.
