Son gunned down, father injured in capital

Unidentified miscreants have gunned down a youth and injured his father in Tilpa Para area under Khilgaon police station in the capital.

The deceased is Saimul Hossain, 28, son of Israil, 58, who also received injuries in the attack.

SI Sujat of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Control Room said miscreants opened fire on Saimul and his father on their way back to home around 8:30pm, leaving them critically injured.”

“Saimul and his father were taken to a local private hospital immediately after the incident. Later, they were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the youth died around 9:15pm."

According to the family members, the father and son ran a money exchange centre, Universal Money Exchange, in Motijheel. They were coming back to their Goran house after closing the money exchange centre.

On their way to home, the miscreants, riding on a motorbike, attacked them in front of Khilgaon old Fire Service Station and snatched Tk4m from them, claimed Moktar Hossain, relative of the victims.

Locals said the father and the son return home from business place by their private car everyday and park it at a nearby house. The miscreants attacked them around 8:30pm, when they were coming home after parking their car.

People failed to identify the “criminals” as the entire area was out of electricity since 8pm, told the locals to the Dhaka Tribune.
