Two female bodies recovered in the capital

Police recovered two female bodies from different locations of the capital yesterday.

Police sources said body of Tahmina Akhter Sathi, 30, was recovered from room number 605 of Uttarbango hotel in Shahbag. One Osman Gani was mentioned as her husband in the register book of the hotel. Both of them were said to be from Chandpur.

According to SI Suruj Uddin of Shahbag police station, Sathi and Osman checked in to the hotel as spouses around 8am on Monday. On the following day, Osman asked the duty worker of the hotel to bring some food and left the hotel. He never came back. Later hotel authorities informed the police after getting no response from the room.

“We are primarily assuming that the woman was strangled after being raped as we didn't find any injury marks. The body has been sent to Dhaka Medical [Collage and Hospital] for a postmortem.” he said.

Another SI Mujibor Rahman said that they were preparing to file a case but did not find any address of the woman.

Meanwhile, a body of an unknown girl, 18, was recovered from an alley on the opposite side of Ananda Cinema Hall, Farmgate yesterday. Police found injury marks on various parts of the body.

Sanjay Kumar Ghosh, Sub Inspector of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar thana, said: “We could not identify the girl yet. We found the body on the lane of Mughal Hotel.” The body was sent to DMCH for autopsy.
