A Narayanganj court has sentenced six people to death and another to life term imprisonment in a murder case.
Judge of Narayanganj additional district and session Judge’s court 1 Mamunur Rashid gave the verdict on Monday afternoon. The convicts are Swapan, Nazmul, Masum, Aminul Islam, Sajjad Alam Dollar and Zakir Hossain while the lifer is Sadia. Except Swapan, all were tried in absentia.
On June 3, 2009, the convicts picked up trader Rafique Bhuiyan from his house in Siddhirganj over previous enmity.
On the next day, Rafique was found dead in a beel (sawmp).
