Railway police seized 700 yaba tablets after conducting a body search of a woman at the capital’s Kamalapur Railway Station yesterday morning.
Government Railway Police (GRP) of Kamalapur claimed that the woman, aged around 28, had hidden the tablets in her private parts.
“The woman came by the Chittagong Mail train from Chittagong around 9:30am. After arresting her, we produced her before a Dhaka court that sent her to jail,” said Abdul Mazid, officer-in-charge of Kamalapur GRP, confirmed the Dhaka Tribune.
He said based on secret information, the woman was detained on arrival. However, the yaba pills were not found after a body search.
“Later, with the help of our female members, a full body search was conducted after taking her to the washroom. The female police members found the tablets packed inside a condom hidden in her vagina,” he said.
The woman, who claimed to be a garment worker in Chittagong, said a coworker at the factory had given her the tablets to hand over to a person at the station and she was promised Tk2,000 for the job.
“We tried to arrest the man who was supposed to receive the tablets but could not trace him,” the OC said.
