Police from two different police stations started searching for the head of an unidentified woman’s body yesterday, a day after it was recovered in 13 dismembered body parts in the capital.
Turag police recovered five body parts of the woman, aged around 35, in a bag from the south-eastern part of Chandalbhog bridge on the Turag river around midnight and Uttara west police recovered seven other parts wrapped in a bed sheet in front of a house at Sector 5, Uttara.
The body parts have been sent to DMCH for a DNA test to be confirm whether the body parts belong to the same person. However, even though the body parts are of the same person, she cannot be identified unless the head of the body is recovered prompting the police from two relevant stations to search for it.
Sub Inspector of Turag police station Ashraful Alam told the Dhaka Tribune: “We are now searching for the head because the identity of the woman, who belongs to the body, cannot be confirmed unless we can recover the head.”
Officer-in-Charge of Uttara west police station Mohammad Rafiqul Islam told the Dhaka Tribune: “The parts may be owned by the same woman. Details however can be revealed after getting the DNA test results.”
