Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives recovered firearms and drugs from different villages of Monakasha frontier under Shibganj upazila of the district on Sunday night and early Friday.
During the drives, the BGB teams recovered a revolver, three Indian pistols, five rounds of bullets, 12 bottles of wine and 323 bottles of phensidyl.
Acting commanding officer of BGB 9 Battalion Major Sheikh Mohammad Mizanur Rahman said, on a tip-off, a patrol team of Monakasha Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a drive at Parchowka village under Monakasha union and recovered one Indial pistol and two rounds of bullets around 11pm on Sunday.
Later, another patrol team of the BGB raided a house at Azmatpur Bagichapara village under the same union at 3:30 am and seized two Indian pistols, one revolver, three rounds of bullets and 14 bottles of phensidyl.
Besides, other BGB teams of Masudpur, Charbagdanga and Kiranganj BOPs recovered 160 bottles of phensidyl from Thotarpara, 12 bottles of wine from Roadpara and 149 bottles of phensidyl from Telkupi at the same night.
