An eight-year-old boy, who was abducted from South Keraniganj of Dhaka, has been rescued from Sirajganj town.
The boy kidnapped by Sharif, has been rescued by a team of police from the roof of a house in Marwaripatti area of the town on Tuesday afternoon, eight days after he was abducted.
Sirajganj Sadar police station Sub-Inspector Abul Barik said: “Acting on a tip-off, a team of Keraniganj police conducted a drive in Marwaripatti area and rescued Sharif in the morning.
The police also held Sharif's cousin Sima Akter Mim from the spot for her alleged involvement with the kidnapping,” he added.
“Sima's associate Azam is on the run. The police is conducting drives in different areas to capture him.”
Sharif is now in the custody of Sirajganj police, Officer-in-Charge Habibul Islam of Sirajganj Sadar police said.
Sharif, the son of a Kuwait expatriate, was abducted from a village in Kacaripara in South Keraniganj on July 7.
The abductors demanded Tk10 lakh as ransom from his mother over cell phone.
Later, Sharif's mother Parul Begum filed a case with South Keraniganj police station in this connection.
