Miscreants abducted a college girl after killing a security guard at Uttara in the city on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Liakat Hossain Liton, 38, son of Nazmul Huda of Pirganj uapzila of Rangpur.
Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector of Uttara East police station, said Fatematuzohora,17, a student of Cambrian School and College, along with her mother and a relative were returning home around 10:55pm.
Meanwhile, a group of armed miscreants on a private car intercepted them and picked Fatematuzohora up into the car.
When the victim’s relative and security guard Liton tried to resist the attackers, they shot Liton in the abdomen, leaving him injured.
Liton was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
