A group of miscreants have attacked a woman in Mirpur, a day after attacking her son on Friday for protesting against stalking of his cousin.
Mirpur police station Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam could not confirmed the incident.
The youth, a student at a private university in Dhaka, is currently being treated at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
His mother was attacked on Saturday morning when she was going to the hospital to see her son, their relatives told the Dhaka Tribune.
According to the case details, the young man was beaten up by Fahim and his friends on Friday at Shewrapara after he protested against the sexual harassment of his cousin.
OC Nazrul said a case had been filed against Fahim and his friends hours after the attack. Fahim was arrested later that night when he was trying to flee to Cox's Bazar.
Police said they were trying to arrest the other accused.
Fahim's friends reportedly threatened the victims' relatives at NITOR on Saturday noon.
The mother said the attackers tried to pull her out of the vehicle.
“They asked me whether we lodged any case over Friday's attack. They threatened to inflict more harm on my family if we filed a police case,” she said.
She said her brother-in-law’s daughter had come to Shewrapara to attend a family party.
“Fahim, a local goon, and his associates stalked her and harassed her sexually soon after she had gotten down from the bus,” she said.
“My son, who went to receive her, protested against harassment. Fahim and his gang brutally attacked my son and broke his leg,” she added.
“The girl was unharmed,” she further added.
