Armed criminals loot Tk30 lakh

At least four people received bullet wounds in the capital's Kallanpur yesterday when criminals opened fired and snatched Tk30 lakh from them.

Witnesses said six criminals on two motorcycles intercepted the private car carrying the four individuals and opened fired at the car. Later, they snatched the bag containing the money and fled the scene. The victims are Jakaria Khan, 30, Shamsur Rahman, 40, Akhter Hossain, 35, and Belal Uddin, 28.

“The four victims are officials of Multi National Development Company Limited, a housing firm. They were heading back to their office at the capital's Panthapath area after withdrawing  Tk20 lakh from Islami Bank's Darus Salam branch in the afternoon,” said Sub Inspector Asif Iqbal of Mirpur police station.

Mirpur police station OC Salah Uddin said: “One should inform police while transporting huge amount of money. We are trying to arrest the culprits.”
