The condition of brutally hacked college girl Khadiza Akter Nargis is improving, say doctors of Dhaka's Square Hospital.
She could move her right hand and right leg and respond with the right eye slightly, said Dr AM Rezaul Sattar, associate consultant of the Neurology Department of the hospital.
“Khadija is still not out of danger. We cannot predict much of her recovery at this stage. However, the condition is better,” said Mirza Nazim Uddin, consultant of the hospital's Medicine and Critical Care Unit, at a press briefing on Saturday noon.
Khadiza, a 2nd year Bachelor's student of Sylhet Govt Mohila College, was brutally stabbed by Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit Chhatra League leader Badrul Alam on October 3. She was returning home from her college after appearing for an examination.
At first, she was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital and then to the Square Hospital early Tuesday, as her condition deteriorated. She is now on life support at the hospital.
Meanwhile, protests are taking place every day in Sylhet and elsewhere in the country demanding harsh punishment for the perpetrator.
Demanding justice, Masuk Mia, the Saudi expatriate father of Khadiza, told the Dhaka Tribune Saturday that he was grateful for the support of the media and the people of the country during this difficult time.
Sylhet Concerned Citizen's Forum organised a protest in Tukerbazar on Saturday. Masuk Mia spoke along with AL Organisational Secretary Misbah Uddin Siraj and BNP General Secretary Ali Ahmad representing the district units. They later formed a human chain demanding capital punishment for Badrul.
