A worker of a jute mill has been hacked to death by unknown assailants near the mill gate at Rajghat in Nawapara industrial area of Jessore district early Monday.
The deceased is Ariful Islam Nissan, 35, son of Sujan Uddin of Moallemtala under Abhaynagar upazila and an electric department worker at Jessore Jute Industries Limited.
Locals said assailants attacked Nissan with sharp weapons after his duty hours. Later, the duty doctor declared him dead when taken to the local upazila health complex in the early hours of the day.
Abhaynagar police station Assistant Sub-Inspector Afzal confirmed about the death.
He said no case has yet been lodged nor anyone has been arrested in connection to the incident.
