The family of slain Jubo League leader Reazul Haque Khan Milky yesterday filed a no-confidence petition against the charge sheet pressed in the sensational murder case.
Maj Rashedul Haque Khan, brother of the victim and also complainant of the case, in the petition alleged that the investigation officer had “intentionally” dropped the names of seven “main accused” to divert the case.
Complainant’s lawyer Abdullah Al Mansur filed the petition with the court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan.
The court deferred the hearing on the petition until June 17 as the case documents were with the upper court.
RAB pressed the charge sheet naming 12 people including 11 Jubo League men as accused in the case. The elite force IO dropped the names of nine accused mentioned by the plaintiff saying that the allegation against them had not been proved in primary investigation.
In the charge sheet, 26 people have been named as prosecution witnesses.
Milky, the organising secretary of Jubo League’s Dhaka City (south) unit, was gunned down in the capital’s Gulshan area on July 30 last year.
Hours after the murder, RAB arrested one Jahid Siddique Tarek from a hospital in Uttara. However, Tarek and one of his cohorts were killed in a “shootout” in the capital. RAB said unidentified criminals attacked them with firearms when they were taking Tarek and his associate to the Gulshan police station a day later.
RAB, who later took over the case from Gulshan police, also claimed that Tarek had admitted the killing before he was killed in the “shootout.”
