Court orders departmental measures for 2 RAB officials

A Dhaka court has ordered police to send back two arrested RAB officials to their organisations and take departmental measures against them.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hasibul Hoque has passed the order on Monday afternoon.

The Rapid Action Battalion officials are Md Mizanur Rahman of Bangladesh Army and Abdullah Al Mahmud of Bangladesh Navy.

The court has also sent the other arrestees to jail rejecting a bail petition filed by their lawyer Mohammad Tarek Hossain.

They are Reazul Haque, Sheikh Mohammad Nahid, Alauddin Mia, Zohir Uddin and Bacchu Mia.

Earlier in the day, Investigating Officer of the case and also Sub-Inspector of Uttarkhan police station Eskandar Ali produced them before the court with a plea to send back the RAB officials to their own forces and send the other five detainees to jail.

On Sunday, they were arrested for attempting to grab a piece of land in Uttarkhan area of the capital.

Later, complainant Johir Ali filed an extortion case in connection with the matter.
