A youth was allegedly beaten and stabbed to death by his friends over conflicts of love affairs in the Mohammadpur of capital area Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hassan Apu, 20, a filter water supplier, son of late Abdul Mazid, of Atibazar of Washpur of Keranigaj.
“We recover the body of Mehedi from Dhaka Uddyan area and send it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the duty doctors declared him dead around 6.30pm” Azizul Haque, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur police station, told the Dhaka Tribune.
Rejoyan Ahmed, cousin of victim, told the Dhaka Tribune that Mehedi’s friends Akter, Gias, Sagor and 5 others called him out from his residence in the morning.
Rubel, friend of victim, said that their friends Akter, Gias and Sagor went missing soon after the incident and they might involve in the murder. A conflict was held between Mehedi and Sagor regarding a love affair with a girl of the area. The murder could be a consequence of that dispute, he suspected.
“The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy,” OC Aziz said, he added that they are investigating the case to bring to light the mystery and in search of Mehedi’s friends. Primarily they are suspecting that it might happen over previous enmity, he expressed.
No one was arrested in this regard till filing this report on Tuesday late night.
