An easybike driver was found dead a day after he had gone missing in Turag, Dhaka, yesterday morning. Locals found the body on the slope of Beribadh and notified the police.
The vicitim was identified as Mafizul Alam, 30, a resident of Uttara, Dhaka.
Police said he was slaughtered and his body bore severe injuries.
Quoting the victim’s family, sub-inspector Rahmatullah of Turag police station said Mafizul left home with his rented easybike on Saturday morning, but he did not return home. His mobile phone was also unreachable.
In the morning, the police received a tip-off and recovered the body, which was later sent to Dhaka Medical College for a post mortem.
Police also said they could not find the easybike.
“We suspect the criminals killed Mafiz for the auto bike. His family members could not name any suspect either,” said Rahmatullah.
