A policeman has been stabbed by muggers in broad daylight at the capital.
Constable Nazrul Islam, 38, of Chawkbazar Police Station, was with his wife and brother in-law on the way to his residence in Old Dhaka on Tuesday.
They were attacked in Goran area, Khilgaon around 6:30am, wife Ishrat Jahan Mitu said. “A gang of up to five muggers stopped our rickshaw.”
“They stabbed my husband when he tried to fend them off,” she said. “They took away my gold chain,” she said.
Khilgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam said his forces were trying their best to catch the criminals responsible.
