Customs officials have detained a person with 53 gold bars at Shah Amanat Airport in Chittagong on Monday morning.
Detainee Anisur Rahman Chowdhury, 32, landed at the airport from Dubai by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight around 7:30am.
Moshiur Rahman Mondol, assistant commissioner of Customs in Shah Amanat Airport, told the Dhaka Tribune that acting on a tip off, the customs official searched Anisur Rahman and recovered the gold bars.
The gold bars worth Tk2.65 lakh were hidden inside Anisur’s anklets, he added.
