Update : 05 Apr 2014, 07:31 PM

Police yesterday nabbed three Rohingyas from Chittagong city’s Chamrar Gudam area while they were carrying 1,500 pieces of Yaba pills hidden in snacks for smuggling.

AKM Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station, said they nabbed Ismail, 25, Dilara Begum, 23, and Laila Begum, 30, who were all Myanmar residents, living in a refugee camp at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar since 2012.

Acting on a tip-off, the arrests were made around 8am, the OC added.

He also said the trio, along with two kids and some sacks of Pitha and Achar, was going to the port city’s Colonelhat area from the city’s Shah Amanat Bridge by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw.

Their movement and approach seemed suspicious, OC Mohiuddin said.

A case was lodged with Kotwali police station in this connection.
