Two people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in assaulting a woman in Hatem Khan area of Rajshahi city.
The arrestees are Minhajul Islam Pavel, owner of the local Prince Hotel and his brother-in-law Riazul Islam Riaz.
Boalia police said they were arrested following an attempt to murder case filed with the police station by the victim, Munni, wife of one Sohel, of the same area.
The case statement stated that Pavel and Riazul along with their wives swooped on Munni, beat her up with iron rods and snatched gold ornaments at Cutomer Mor on March 16. Hearing the hue and cry of Munni, locals rushed in, rescued her and admitted her to hospital.
Later, Munni filed the case against Pavel, his wife Tota, Reazul and his wife Moli.
Boalia police station Officer-in-Charge Ziaur Rahman said: “Police is trying to arrest the other accused.”
