Major held with phensidyl

Police have detained an army official with 51 bottles of Phensidyl from his private car on Roumari-Dhaka road near Kamalpur area under Bakshiganj upazila of Jamalpur district early Thursday.

The detained army officer is Major Imtiaz Nasim, son of Dr Bhuiyan N Islam, of Mymensingh district.

Nasim, who is now on leave, works in Chittagong cantonment.

Police also detained two other persons, who were accompanying him. They were identified as Mamun and Abu Sayeed.

Bakshiganj police station Officer-in-Charge Mostafizur Rahman said: “Police found 51 bottles of phensidyl inside the car around 1:30am and held Major Nasim along with two others.”

Major Nasim has been handed over to senior army officers, he added.
