Police recovered the body of a 16-year-old domestic help, who allegedly committed suicide, from the house of a CID inspector in the capital’s Banasree area early yesterday.
Ambia Khatun, from Bankhola area of Sujanagar of Pabna, had been working as a domestic help for nine years at the house of the official, Jahangir Alam.
Mozammel Haque, SI of Rampura police station, in the inquest report mentioned that they had found the body on the floor. They saw blood on her nose and mouth. A black spot was also found on her neck.
The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for autopsy. Mozammel suspected that the incident was a suicide.
CID Inspector Jahangir said he had recently been transferred to Bogra. Almost all the belongings were shifted there too. They were staying in Dhaka for his daughter’s examinations.
He said Ambia on Sunday went outside around 4pm without informing them and came back after half an hour. “I told her not to leave the house without permission which upset. Later she hanged herself from the shower with her scarf.”
He alleged that Ambia did not wanted to leave with them because she had got involved in a love affair.
However, Ambia’s uncle Hazrat Ali said police officials had prepared a general diary before he reached the police station and asked him to sign it.
SI Mozammel, also investigation officer of the case, refuting the allegation said they had registered the matter in front of Hazrat Ali.
