A Secondary School Certificate examinee was abducted for ransom on Friday in the district.
The victim was identified as Abu Riad, 17, of Romapur village in Dighli union. He took SSC examination this year from Dighli High School and was waiting for result.
According to sources, miscreants demanded Tk5 lakh ransom through Riad’s mobile phone in the evening.
Riad’s mother, Ayesha Begum, filed a case in this regard on Saturday.
His father Abdul Kuddus is an expatriate Bangladeshi.
Iqbal Hossain, officer-in-charge in Sadar police station, said that they were trying to rescue Riad and arrest the criminal.
