The body of the housewife which was dumped into a worn-out tube well’s pipe in Debidar of Comilla was recovered 65 feet beneath the surface yesterday, 35 days after the victim went missing.
Police with help of a tube well installation team dug the tube well and recovered the body at noon.
The deceased Shahina’s expatriate husband Mobarrak Hossain hired a killer in exchange of Tk2 lakh to kill her and dump the body.
The shocking incident was revealed after the hired killer Abdul Karim was arrested in Mainamati Cantonment area on March 6.
Sub-Inspector Shah Kamal Akand, also investigation officer of the case, said Karim confessed that he was paid Tk2 lakh to kill Shahina.
“We could not recover the body on Thursday night [March 6] as no worker was available to dig out the body,” he said.
Brother of the victim Shah Alam Sarker said two years ago, Mobarrak came to Bangladesh and became embroiled in a heated altercation with her wife. He and his family members began torturing her over the dispute. Mobarrak went back to Dubai after four months but his family members continued torturing his wife.
On February 7, Shahina went missing from her in-law’s house and Shah Alam filed a general diary in this connection.
