Three top-level officials of the Sonali Bank Limited have been suspended over the recent break-in and loot of over Tk30 lakh in a Bogra branch.
Meanwhile, four more people have been detained on Tuesday and a reward of Tk1 lakh has been declared for the capture of anyone involved in the crime.
A member of the 4-member probe body formed by the bank confirmed the suspension of two general managers and a deputy general manager on condition of anonymity.
The suspended are marketing and development division General Manager Hassan Iqbal, Rajshahi zone General Manager TM Afzal Hossain and Bogra zone Deputy General Manager Abdus Samad.
Meanwhile, one housewife Afroza and her husband Shahadat Hossain and their neighbours Biplob and Ashraf Hossain have been nabbed, police said.
Investigation officer of the case in this regard Inspector Zahurul Haque confirmed the detention but declined to comment over this matter further.
The detentions have been made a day after the official said fresh leads have been obtained from the interrogation of two security staffs of the bank.
On the other hand, Bogra police have declared Tk1 lakh reward to the capture of anyone involved in the incident.
On Monday, a Bogra court had granted five day remand in police custody for the eight people shown arrested earlier.
On Saturday, officials discovered a passageway into the vault of Sonali Bank Limited Adamdighi branch. Money over Tk30 lakh was found missing.
This was the second time a branch of Sonali Bank has been broken into in similar fashion recently.
