The key accused in assault on Journo Yarab Hossain, has sustained bullet injuries in a "shootout" with law enforcers near Debnagar area of Mathurapur upazila under the district on Friday morning.
Mobassher Hossain Madhu, alias Madhu daoit is son of Abdul Aziz, hailed from Mothurapur village.
Shatkhira Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Inamul Haque told the Dhaka Tribune: “Being tipped off, Modhu dacoit was arrested around 11pm. Police went in a drive to recover illegal arms in Debnagar area along with Madhu.”
“Sensing our presence in the area, a gang of robbers opened fire at the law enforcers to snatch him away, triggering a clash,” he added.
Later, police rescued 36-year-old Modhu and sent him to Shatkhira health complex for treatment.
Police claimed that Modhu was also accused in a number of cases including fierce attack on the daily Manab Jamin journo Yarab Hossain.
