A schoolgirl reportedly committed suicide by jumping under the wheels of a running train at Rajabari level crossing in Kalihati upazila on Wednesday noon.
The deceased was identified as Ankhi Akter, 14, student of class IX and daughter of Abdul Latif, a resident of Parkhi village in the same upazila.
Jahirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kalihati Police Station, said Ankhi jumped before a train heading for the northern region from Dhaka at the level crossing at about 12 noon in a huff with her mother and died on the spot.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for an autopsy.
An unnatural death was filed in this connection.
