The bullet-wound constable, Anwar, who was shot by his colleague inside a police camp in Rangamati was brought to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Chittagong Cantonment yesterday afternoon.
Quoting the on-duty doctor of the CMH Mosarraf Hossain, additional deputy inspector general of Chittagong range, told the Dhaka Tribune that the policeman was brought dead around 1pm.
“The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Chittagong range will form a probe body to enquire into the incident,” he said adding that as the DIG was in the capital for official purpose the probe body would be formed after his return.
Constables Anwar and Mostafizur engaged in an altercation at Baghaighat police camp under Bachaichhari upazila around 10:30am.
At one stage of their altercation Mostafizur lost his temper and shot Anwar, he said.
Constable Mostafizur was detained after the incident.
