A mobile court in the city yesterday sentenced two people to two years imprisonment each for selling dead chickens in the city’s Tejgaon area.
The court also fined the two convicts – Salma, 45, and Delu, 46 – Tk1 lakh each, in default, to suffer three months more imprisonment.
Acting on the information, a mobile court team of Rab-2 led by him conducted a drive at rail station in Tejgaon in the morning and recovered 120 dead chickens searching a house adjacent to a wholesale chicken market in the area, reports UNB.
Salma and Delu were also arrested from the house on charge of collecting and selling dead chickens.
They were later produced before the court of Anwar Pasha who handed down the verdict.
Delu earlier served two year jail for the same offence, said Anwar Pasha.
