Who are the snatched JMB militants

The man held after the snatching of three condemned JMB convicts is a man who has been recently released from jail after six years of imprisonment, police say.

Zakaria, 28, was held from Sakhipur upazila, Tangail on Sunday afternoon hours after the daring attack on prison van and the snatching of the militants in Mymensingh.

Zakaria was imprisoned for six years in a case with capital's Sabujbagh police, Tangail police acting Superintendent Hasibul Alam said. “He has been released recently.”

However, further details could not be obtained.

Meanwhile, two other suspects have been nabbed in Tangail over the snatching of the militants. But, police are denying the detentions.

Dhaka Tribune has a photo of one of the suspects nabbed. However, details could not be obtained since police were denying reporters in the area.

Meanwhile, Kashimpur jail Superintendent Abdur Razzak confirmed details of the three militants of banned Islamist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB).

Salauddin Salehin, from Narayanganj, is a death convict and was condemned to Kashimpur jail. There are 33 cases against him. He has been punished for various terms in nine cases and sentenced to death in one. He was brought to Kashimpur on February 22, 2010.

Bomb specialist Mizan, real name Zahidul Islam Suman, 35, is a life sentenced convict. He is an accused of 19 cases, among which he is life sentenced in a Mirpur police arms case.

He has also been sentenced to six-year jail in two cases, 16 years in one case and five years in another. He is the son of Suja Mia from Jamalpur.

Rakib Hassan, son of Abdus Sobhan from Jamalpur, is accused in 30 cases. He has been sentenced for death in one case and for various other terms in three other cases.
