Police said assailants shot Rizvi Hasan alias Babu, 34, and Ahsanul Haq alias Emon, 30, in the AGB Colony on Friday night.
Both are believed to be affiliated with the Jubo League.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost's Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia said the men were brought to the hospital on Friday night.
Rizvi was later shifted to the Apollo Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Ahsanul is undergoing treatment at the DMCH.
Motijheel police's SI Dulal Chandra Kundo said Rizvi died just after 3am on Saturday.
What led to the shooting is still unclear but Dulal said they suspect rivalry to be the cause.
A police investigation has opened into the murder.
