A suspected robber has been killed in a "gunfight" with police at Mirzanagar area under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Rojob Ali Sardar, 42, son of late Abdul Aziz Sardar of the area.
Officer-in-charge of Keshabpur police station MA Jalil said: “Police had arrested Rojob from Mirzanagar area on Saturday evening.”
“Rojob’s associates attacked police when they went to recover arms from Mirzanagar area along with Rojob in the early hours of the day,” he said.
In retaliation, police fired back that triggered a gunfight.
Later, Rojob’s body was recovered from field after the "gunfight".
Meanwhile, police also recovered a shotgun, two bullets and a knife from the scene.
