A person detained on allegations of abducting four tourists, died yesterday at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The deceased was Armanul Karim, 32, son of the late Yusha from Janarghona in Cox’s Bazar sadar upazila.
Cox’s Bazar sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin said: “Armanul Karim sustained injuries during a mob beating. He was later admitted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where he died this morning.”
Earlier, four people including Karim were arrested in connection with the abduction and assault of four Bangladeshi tourists.
The tourists were abducted on Tuesday night around 10pm from the medical college area.
Police and the Rapid Action Battalion, in a combined drive, rescued the tourists, five hours into their abduction.
