A person was held while attempting to vandalise an idol at a temple in Natore’s Fouzdari Para on Monday morning.
The detainee was identified to be Saiful Islam, 25, son of Abdul Khalek from Alaipur.
Sources said the locals held Saiful while he was in the process of vandalising the idol sometime around 3pm.
The locals later handed him over to the police.
Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge AslamUddin confirmed to the Dhaka Tribune about Saiful’s detention.
Some parts of the same idol were vandalised on Saturday.
District Puja Udyapan Committee leader Chittaranjan Shah condemned the act and demanded the arrest of those involved.
