A mobile court has sentenced one stalker with six months of imprisonment for sexually harassing a schoolgirl in Habiganj on Monday.
Executive Magistrate Umme Kulsum handed down the order against Tapan Sarkar, 26, son of Ramendra Sarkar of Kakailchheo village under Ajmeriganj upazila.
According to police, Tapan intercepted the girl at Narikelhata under Chowdhury Bazar area while she was on her way to BKGC Girl’s High School and spat on her.
Hearing the girls cry, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her. And they caught the boy and handed him to Chowdhury Bazar police post.
Umme Kulsum arrived as the police informed the district administration.
Hearing the witnesses and both parties, the magistrate sentenced Tapan with the imprisonment and Tk20,000 as fine.
In case of failing to pay the fine, the accused have to be in prison for one more month, the mobile court pronounced.
Later Tapan was sent to Jail.
The convicted Tapan is also allegedly a drug peddler in the area. He acknowledged that he has been in Jail twice before in cases involving drugs.
