Ex-BCL leader nabbed during abduction

A former leader of Bangladeh Chhatra League, the student wing of Awami League, was nabbed along with two others while kidnapping in Satkhira on Tuesday.

The ex-Satkhira Chhatra Legue Secretary Nazmul Huda Palash was kidnapping one person because of a dispute arising from land-issues, police said.

Palash, son of Mokhlesur Rahman from Tala upazila, and Mohasin Ali, 30, and Monirul Islam, 35, were nabbed from the town's Palashpole area around evening.

The three were abducting one Yunus Ali and carrying him off from Palashpole on a motorcycle, Satkhira Sadar police Officer-in-Charge Enamul Haque said.

Local police intervened after Yunus began to yell, he said.

“Yunus Ali has some arable land in Harinagar village of Tala upazila, what we learned from interrogation. He was being abducted because of this land.”

The three abductors were being interrogated in police custody, the police offiical said. Procedures were underway to file a lawsuit regarding this matter.
