Police recovered gunpowder, crude bombs and octane from a railway line at Fowjdarhat under Sitakunda upazila in Chittagong on Thursday afternoon.
A total of 23 crude bombs, half kilogrammes gunpowder and two litres octane were recovered in abandoned condition, Iftekhar Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda police station, told the Dhaka Tribune.
He said acting on a tip-off, they found the explosives in the area at around 4:15pm, he said.
However, none was nabbed in this regard, he said, adding Jamaat-Shibir men might bring the explosives for committing sabotage acts in the upazila but they left those sensing the presence of law enforcers or common people.
Police are conducting drives to arrest them, the OC added.
A case was lodged with Sitakunda police station in this connection.
