Bangladeshi shot dead in South Africa

A Bangladeshi national was shot fatally in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday evening.

The victim was one Bajler Rahman Dulal, 40, son of Neyajer Rahman, from the Dakkhin Hirapur village of Matubhuiyan union, Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni.

Bajler, father of three children, used to run a grocery shop in Johannesburg, said his family members.

Matubhuiyan UP Chairman Ishak Joglu told the Dhaka Tribune: “A gang of criminals shot Bajlur on his head and snatched the case of money he was carrying with him as he was returning home around 7:30pm (BD Time), leaving him dead on the spot.”

Later, some people from the Bangladeshi community recovered the body and sent it to a hospital.

Ishak Joglu, who also lost his older brother in a similar criminal attack in South Africa seven months ago, said mugging sprees by unruly natives tends to increase during the end of each year.
