Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested 37 foreigners along with two Bangladeshi nationals with a huge quantity of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipment worth Tk10 crore from a house in city’s Uttara area on Sunday night.
Rab1 commander Kismat Hayat informed the Dhaka Tribune.
Rab arrested those 39 people, including 5 Chinese and 32 Taiwanese nationals, around 9pm for running illegal VOIP business.
“Those Chinese and Taiwanese nationals had been staying in Bangladesh for last couple of years and running the illegal business with the help of the two detained Bangladeshis”, said the Rab-1 chief adding that the building owner was suspected to be one of the associates of the foreigners in their illegal business.
Rab1 officials said the entire six-storey building was being used for the illegal business.
