A top terrorist was killed in a “crossfire” between his cohorts and police in Jamirtoli area of the district Sadar early Monday.
Deceased Asaduzzaman Bablu, 40, was the prime accused in the murder case of Dattapara union parishad chairman Noor Hossain Shamin.
He was also accused in a dozen cases, including five murder cases filed with different police stations, reported our Laxmipur correspondent quoting police.
Rab 11 commander Major Shahed told the Dhaka Tribune: “A Rab 11 team raided Jamirtoli area, led by Babul, were taking preparation to conduct subversive activities around 12:30am.
Sensing Rab's presence, Babul and his cohorts opened fire, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate. After the outlaws fled the scene, Babul was found injured,” he added.
Major Shahed said Rab took severely injured Babul to hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Rab also nabbed three people from the spot.
Rab source said action will be taken against the detainees after investigation.
