A ruthless killer, known to have been working under the protection of the Jamaat-e-Islami, was found dead in Satkhira Sadar, Sunday morning.
Locals found the body of Habibar Rahman, alias Habi, son of Jamaat activist Akbar Ali of Kuchpur, near Kadamtala Bazar before informing the police.
Satkhira Sadar police Officer-in-Charge Inamul Haque said Habi is a professional killer. “He has been carrying out his activities under protection of Jamaat.”
“Habi has at least 12 cases including four murder cases, two violence cases and six robbery cases, filed against him at Satkhira Sadar Police Station,” he added.
Satkhira police Additional Superintendent Joydeb Chowdhury confirmed the incident. “The cause of death can be ascertained after autopsy.”
However, neither officials could tell who was behind the killing or what the motive behind it was.
The body was sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
