Suspected activists of Jamaat-Shibir launched an arson attack at the hometown residence of Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in Komolganj upazila of Moulvibazar, early Wednesday.
Kamalganj police station OC Nihar Ranjan Debnath confirmed the news to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “A gang of some 8 to 10 unidentified miscreants riding two motorbikes and one CNG-run Auto-rickshaw suddenly breached the house premises of the Justice, poured kerosene and set the house on fire sometime around 5:30am.
The miscreants fled the scene immediately after the arson attack. Later, locals rushed in and doused the blaze,” he added.
The OC further said police suspected that the “criminals” are activists of local Jamaat-Shibir.
