Four with an army man killed in road accidents

Four people, including an army man, were killed in separate road accidents that took place in Chittagong and Jessore.

Police said a motorbike carrying Mohammed Absar, 50, a member of Bangladesh Army was rammed by a speedy truck in Baizid area around 9am, leaving him critically injured, said Naba Gopal, sub-inspector of Baizid police station.

He was taken to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead, the SI added.

Jahirul Islam, sub-inspector of CMCH police outpost, said a truck hit Kashem 50, son of late Kader Haoladar, hailing from Lalmohan in Bhola, in front of Amin Market in Khatunganj area under Kotwali police station, leaving him critically injured. Later, he died at the CMCH.

Meanwhile, a woman and a minor boy were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in Jessore on Thursday night.

Police said a motorcycle had collided head-on with a Jhikargacha-bound truck in Shorab area on Monirampur-Jhikargacha road, killing one of its rider on the spot.

The dead was identified as Laily Khatun, 24, wife of Aktaruzzaman of Subolkhathi village of Monirampur upazila.

Meanwhile, a minor boy Tahshin Hossain, 5, son of Moniruzzaman of Zamdia village under Bagherpara upazila of the district, was killed as a Nasiman (human hauler) hit him when he was crossing the road.

Critically injured Tahsin was taken to Bagerpara upazila health complex where he died.
