2 killed in Sylhet clash

Two people were killed and 25 others injured in a clash between two rival groups over establishing supremacy at Companiganj village in Companiganj upazila on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Harmuj Ali, 60 and Ruhul Amin, 30.

Saleh Uddin, officer-in-charge of Companiganj Police Station, said there is a dispute between general secretary of Awami League upazila unit Aftab Ali Kala Miah and his relative Abdul Ali over establishing dominion in this locality.

Supporters of Aftab Ali locked in a fierce clash with the men of Abdul Ali around 5 pm, leaving Harmuj Ali and Ruhul Amin dead on the spot and 25 others from both sides injured.
